This week I want to discuss what I’d like my readers to take away from reading my book. I want my readers to enjoy a fantasy novel that is rich in characters and has a story line that is believable, yet has surprises along the way. I want the reader to become a part of the story as if they were actually there.
I also want them to desire the success of the companions as they engage the dangers they encounter. The teamwork of the companions despite their differences is paramount to their success. I’d like the reader to see how those differences contribute to the success of their objectives. The way the companions earn the respect of one another is an important aspect of their bonding experiences.
Those who like varieties of creatures will like this book. The political structure of several of them is explained and one type of creature in particular I’ve created that I haven’t seen in any other fantasy novels. The skink warrior is a creature I’ve seen in board games but not in a book so I endeavored to add them to my book. Their origin is unique and I hope you’ll like them.
Ultimately, I’d like a following of the world and its characters and create a series that all fantasy fans will remember and enjoy, and collect. I’m hoping my readers will look forward to the next books in the series, “Cloak & Dagger,” and if enough interest is generated, I can even write additional books based on the world that is created in Kazin’s Quest, Book I of the Dragon Mage Trilogy.
